Making comfrey porridge - how it is done

You don't have to buy plant tonics. You can e.g. also produce comfrey and strengthen the plants with it. Instructions and tips here.

Comfrey is a good plant tonic

Unfortunately, many gardeners are still not familiar with comfrey, although it is a very good plant tonic (fertilizer effect), which makes the plants more resistant to diseases and pests. This is primarily due to their valuable, ecologically harmless ingredients such as potassium, phosphate, nitrogen and trace elements. Therefore, you should definitely make your own comfrey.

" Tip:

Comfrey can also easily be combined with nettle, or even mixed together, which gives the manure additional magnesium and iron.

Grow or collect comfrey?

Comfrey mainly grows in wetlands, which is why it is often found on river banks and can even be easily collected there in large quantities. Comfrey is also very easy to care for, so you can easily grow it in your garden if you want to use comfrey more often in the future.

" Tip:

This plant, which blooms in delicate purple, can be grown in the sun and partial shade, and it even thrives on dry soils.

Put on comfrey

Step 1:

The leaves are primarily needed for the comfrey, of which you have to pluck about 1 kilogram.

Step 2:

Then roughly chop these leaves, place them in a plastic container and pour 10 liters of rainwater over them. Then you have to cover the brew with an air-permeable cotton cloth (because of the flies and beetles).

Step 3:

Now you only have to stir the comfrey liquid once a day until it is fermented. You can recognize this condition by the smell or by the fact that the liquid manure no longer foams.

" Tip:

By the way, comfrey can also be processed into oil, ointments or creams and used for external use. Comfrey helps e.g. for bruising, sciatica and phlebitis.

Use comfrey well

Comfrey should only be used when diluted with water (1:10). However, you should only water the plant soil and never the plant itself from above, as the sharp liquid manure could otherwise damage the plant.

Comfrey should be used especially on heavily draining plants such as Use tomatoes or zucchini. You can also use the comfrey manure as a kind of liquid fertilizer for outdoor potted plants. This makes the plants more resilient and thrives much better in the pots.
